Deputy Mayor Chase-Greene says newly selected town Clerk Sooba not suitable
Deputy mayor town Patricia Chase Greene said this was a slap in the council’s face and it was disrespectful to her since she was part of a panel selected by the ministry of local government to search for a town clerk. She said out of the four selected for the job Sooba was the least qualified.
A source told this newscast that Sooba received the perfect birthday gift on December 2nd with news of her appointment.
The mayor and the council had expressed disappointment with Sooba not carrying out the mandate of the council. Green does not expect things to change she fears the relationship with the council and the town clerk will get worst.
cabinet secretary Dr Roger Luncheon confirmed that Sooba was given the nod ahead of Paul Clark who was ahead of the pack for the job.
Already some councillors are saying the appointment as Sooba is confrontational as the council battles to try to keep the city clean and struggles to get the support of central government.
