Public servants continue salary increase protest. Govt. unmoved
Today the workers and their union turned their attention to the office of the president with the hope of having the president intervene, but from all indications so far the government will not reverse its position.
The workers are beginning to get frustrated.
According to the union the salary imposition is nothing new. They told this newscast that for over a decade they were trying to get the government to honour the collective bargaining agreement with no result.
The union said the rising cost of living, the high electricity rates; coupled with the value added tax, are not making it any easier for public servants.
Despite the criticism the government is sticking to its position.
