Cocaine for Thanksgiving
A twenty eight year old woman who allegedly transported cocaine in a suitcase from Guyana had to spend the US Thanksgiving holiday and weekend in Federal Detention. The woman is reported to have taken out over eight pounds of cocaine in an unusually thick bottom of a suitcase. The woman Chitraoutie Persaud arrived at the JFK airport on flight BW 424 on November 28 Thanksgiving Day in the US. She is still in Federal custody.
Local agents meantime are still looking for another woman wanted in connection with a shipment of over 27 pounds of cocaine found concealed in boulangers/eggplant destined for Canada. The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit still wants woman known to them as Lolita for questioning in connection with cocaine find at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Saturday. Lolita was said to be living at 135 Grass field, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
Over the last six months there have been at least two cocaine busts per month either in Guyana or abroad.
