Toddler among victims left homeless in East Coast fire
A fire of unknown origin quickly gutted a Sparendaam home last night leaving five persons homeless. There are reports that the fire started around 7:00 and quickly spread through the wooden building. At the time of the fire a 21-year-old woman and her 1-year-old baby were in the home; both managed to escape unhurt.
This newscast understands that the building is owned by a US based Guyanese woman and her family was taking care of the home. The home had no electricity this newscast was told.
The Guyana Fire Service was quick to the scene and contained the fire from spreading to any of the nearby buildings.
