sports 26The GDF set to host their first ever floodlights rugby tourney at the Camp Ayanganna Ground.

 GDF are currently on fire having won the past 3 sevens championships for 2013 played to date, defeating UG Wolves and Hornets RFC with Caribs failing to make any of the finals. The first game starts at ten minutes to six just after the ceremonial kickoff by the Chief of Staff of the GDF. GDF’s  coach said they will be looking to go all out to win the  tournament

The women’s National Ruggers will also be on show as the GRFU continues its development of Female Rugby.  The tournament is in celebration of the GDF’s 48th Anniversary.

        All spectators are advised to use the Eastern Gate. Admission is FREE.

And the Fixtures for the Guinness greatest of the streets have been released and it is Leopold stree and Costello housing scheme who will do battle in the first game. That game should have started since 7 and another involving North last entrance taking on Norton St West will be played starting at 7:30.

The other games to be played at half hour intervals are

And top football team Alpha is taking nothing for granted as the GFA banks beer Cup continues tomorrow. Alpha comes up against Grove Hi-Tech in the feature game at the GFC ground at 8 in the evening. Alpha Coach Wayne Dover spoke with Capitol News at a training session Tuesday morning.

Captain Dwight Peters was also upbeat and said the camaraderie in the team is good.

And Telephone Giant GT&T will be spending Millions to ensure that the GCB senior inter county 4 day tournament gets going. The competition starts this Thursday will see a Presidents 11 team coming up against Berbice Demerara and Essequibo

Demerara will play the Presidents 11 at Enmore Community Centre and over at the DCC ground on the same day Essequibo will take on Berbice.

The GCB says it hopes the competition will promote and enhance the young talent coming through.

Director of Marketing Sales and PR at GTT Roma Narine Singh said that GTT is always looking to support the development of youths and communities.

And WI one day Captain Dwayne Bravo says his team will be going all out to win the final one day come tomorrow. The 3 match one day series is tied 1 all going into the final game.
