Public servants reject and protest 5% increase

gpsu protestWorkers from various government ministries and the Georgetown hospital today joined the picket line in total rejection of the government imposed 5% pay increase.

The workers representative the Guyana Public Service Union view the imposition as illegal, insensitive, grossly disrespectful and ruthless.

The union also spoke of a meeting with president Donald Ramotor where the question was asked for a multiyear proposal for wages and salaries was made.

According to the GPSU they were given the assurance that the annual impositions would cease.

The union wants the government to honour the collective bargaining agreement. The GPSU is calling on its members to challenge this latest imposition.
