5% salary increase not sitting well with opposition
Earlier this week cabinet secretary Dr Roger Luncheon said that public servants could brace themselves for a 5% increase in salary.
The party is calling on the Minister of Labour Nanda Gopaul to invoke a compulsory arbitration process between the parties to arrive at a living wage for public servants.
For over a decade the government has failed to honour the collective bargaining agreement and resorted to salary impositions.
The president Patrick Yarde said that the salary offered to public servants is not only unrealistic but a blatant disrespect and an insult to public servants. The union is calling on the government to invest in public servants since in the union’s opinion they have been struck off the list.
