AFC pushing for PPC
Opposition Member of Parliament Moses Nagamootoo is adamant that the Public Procurement Commission is absolutely necessary in order to ensure stricter accountability in the spending of money for Government contracts. Nagamootoo was speaking to Capitol News just before he went into parliament Chambers this afternoon.
The AFC Politician said that he was part of the Government when the Public Procurement commission was to have been set up and said it is a shame to see that nothing has been done many years later
The AFC had tied its support of the Anti-money laundering amendment bill to the setting up of the Public Procurement Commission. One of the main bones of contention is that the Government wants to continue to have the final say through Cabinet on the contracts being awarded but the opposition is saying a resounding no.
