Darren Mathews came ahed of the field to win stage two of the 7th Annual ride for Life 5 stage cycle race meet. He was followed by Geron Williams Godfrey Pollydore Alonzo Greaves Paul De Nobrega and Raynauth Jeffrey. Some 70 riders faced the starter when the race got going this morning in Corriverton. in that first stage Raynauth Jeffrey out-sprinted the field to win the stage. He was followed Orville Hinds Godfrey Pollydore, Alonzo Greaves, Darren Matthews, Geron Williams in the top 6. Female rder naiomi Singh also finished the stage in god form.
The West Indies had another disastrous day in the field on the first day of the second test; The visiting Caribbean side squandered a reasonable position to lose their last 6 wickets for just 41 runs end day 1 on 182 all out and the Indians hot on their tracks with 157 for the loss of two wickets. Opener Kieran Powell was unlucky to miss his half century top-scoring for the WI with 48. Chanderpaul had a patient 25 Marlon Samuels 21 and Darren Bravo 29. For the Bowlers Ojah took 5/40 and Ashwin 3/45 for the Indians. Batting Legend Sachin Tendulkar is on 38 not out in India’s reply of 157/ 2. Shane Shillingford took both of the wickets to fall so far.
And the Joint services sports continued on Wednesday with Police and the GDF going neck to neck as they battled for supremacy in the 3 day event. But it was police that had the upper-hand going into the final day today. Police were a clear 47 points ahead of the GDF with the Fire Service and Prisons trailing way behind.
The coaches of the two frontrunners were each confident of doing well over the last 2 days.
