sports 31The Gala event at Banks DIH Thirst Park provided an opportunity for some members of the public to view and take pictures with what has been described as the most prestigious trophy in the world. Chairman of Banks DIH the Company which represent world cup sponsor Coca Cola Clifford reis hailed the relationship of his Company to Coca Cola.

That relationship which is over 20 years old has provided numerous benefits and Reis urged the football fraternity to think big and dream of even someday reaching the world cup finals

President Ramotar spoke of the many benefits of sport and especially football and lauded the efforts of FIFA and Coca Cola. He proudly hoisted the trophy when given the opportunity to do so.

Brazil’s Ambassador as well as FIFA brand Ambassador Dwight York spoke on the objectives of FIFA and what football means to the world.

The Coca Cola rep also spoke of his company’s commitment in ensuring the ideals of FIFA

The Guyana Table Tennis Association will from tomorrow run off its  Mini Cadet, Cadet and Junior Team’s and Single’s Tournament SPONSORED BY DIGICEL t the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Home Stretch Avenue.

over 30 schools will be  participating, including 2012 champion school The Bishop’s High “A”,  they will be getting strong challenges from Queens College, St Stanislaus College, Mae’s, Marian Academy, Berbice and Bartica.

The Tournament according to the GTTA is aimed at:

  • Fostering Camaraderie among students
  • Promotion/Creation of healthy lifestyle thought sport (Table Tennis).
  • Opportunity for individuals to participate in recreational activities.
  • Promoting the basic objectives of the GTTA by having more players actively participate in table tennis activities both recreational and competitively.

players who have never participate in organized tournaments and cannot make their A/B team in the respective categories 11, 13, 15
