JFK Handling company employees charged with mail tampering at Terminal 4.
Federal agents yesterday (October 31st 2013) arrested and charged two employees of Swissport, a handling company at JFK. The employees Anthony Simpson and Clairmont King were charged with theft from the mail and cargo passing through Terminal 4.
That Terminal is used by several International Airlines including Caribbean Airlines that serve Guyana and other parts of the region. Investigators became aware of the loss of mail associated with International flights operating out of JFK terminal 4 since May this year. The Investigation led to the agents conducting surveillance and the intervention of a confidential source.
The operation resulted in the arrest of Simpson and King so far. The men are accused of pilfering currency, shirts, jeans, tennis shoes among other items from the mail and cargo. Both men appeared before a Federal judge and were released on bond. These charges are merely allegations and the men are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
