Truck driver charged with dangerous driving.
The young man Ratish Balwandin was charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving. The matter was called today before chief magistrate Priya Beharry, in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court.
Three persons were killed when the truck Balwandin was driving collided with a mini-bus on the east bank of Demarara.
In that accident the mini-bus was cut in half reportedly after the collision. The mini-bus driver and a passenger were killed on the spot while a third person succumbed at the Diamond Hospital. Several other persons were also injured in the accident.
One of the survivors of that accident told reporters that the driver had little chance of survival after the truck ended up into his path head on.
Balwandin will remain behind bars until November 15th when he will make his next court appearance.
