7 homeless after a house was gutted in a mid-morning fire.
Seven persons are now homeless and according to family members nothing was saved from the building.
Anita Drepaul one of the victims said she had just came back from the market and was sitting with her children downstairs when she heard the neighbours saying the top flat of her building was on fire.
She said from all indications the fire may have started in one of the bedrooms of the building.
Her husband Phillip Trotz who is a cane cutter said he was in the backdam when he heard his house was on fire. He said this was a big blow to his family and he is hoping to get some help to get back on his feet.
The building was quickly burnt to ashes despite the best efforts of the Guyana fire service to maintain the blaze from spreading to any of the nearby buildings.
