GT&T continues to Support the National Indoor Hockey Championships run by the Guyana Hockey Board.

That tournament starts on Monday afternoon when Old Fort takes on Saints in the first game Hikers then play GCC in a highly anticipated matchup Both matches will be 2nd division matches. Three ladies matches will also feature on the night’s activity followed by a men’s 1st Division game.

The Hockey Board organisers were very happy to get the support from GT&T

And this evening Junior hockey players will be on the floor of the National gymnasium on Mandela Avenue for the start of one of their tournaments.

Football

And the GFF will be using the Premier League tournament as the minimum standard qualification for being considered a club in Guyana .This is according to GFF president Christopher Mathias.

Mathias said he was very pleased with the support by the community

The GFF president also gave an update on the status of the application for the Kashif and Shanghai organization. That organization is hoping to hold its annual yearend tournament as it has done for over 2 decades but is facing competition from the Banks Premier league tournament.

The GFF also handed out cheques to the teams participating in the tournament.

Still in football

The excitement in the petra courts pee wee schools football tournament continues on saturday at the banks DIH ground.
The fourth round of action will see eight more rounds of games. The petra organization is encouraging parents to come out and support their children.

Cricket

West Indies u19 would be going all out to level the series against Bangladesh. The two teams clash on saturday in the sixth one day international at the Albion community center ground in Berbice.

Young Tagenarine Chanderpaul stroked his way to a magnificent half century to secure a comprehensive 67 run victory for West Indies Under-19 side in the fifth one day international against Bangladesh played at the providence stadium.

Chanderpaul was supported by Preston
McSween who grabbed 4-20 to earn the Man-of-the-Match award. The Windies Under-19s successfully defended their 178 total posted when they were put into bat.
The win has kept the west indies hopes alive of winning the series. West indies now trail series  the seven-match series 2-3

Cycling
Cycling action returns to the west coast this sunday . The 50 mile race is organized by  the Goed fortuin ppp group.  The  cycle road race starts  from wales police station to bushy park and ends at the harbour bridge

Reigning Junoir chess champion Anthony Drayton says he confident of retaining his title.

The SASHA CELLS 2013 JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINS THIS SATURDAY
at Olympic House, Kingston and the battlefield is set for the eight top junior players, including defending champion Anthony Drayton to vie for the title of National Junior Chess Champion. Drayton holds a FIDE rating of 1801 and he has already expressed confidence in retaining the title.

Seven players qualified earlier this month to go after Drayton and the coveted title. The championship is being conducted by the Guyana Chess Federation.
