The GFC today received assistance from the World Wildlife Fund for Guyana’s Redd plus Iniative.
Guyana’s preparedness to undertake projects that will create less harm to the environment has received a boost from the World Wildlife fund through a grant to the Guyana forestry Commission the GFC. The GFC is the agency that manages the state forests and is also tasked with overseeing the state of preparedness here to carry out the projects proposed under the Low Carbon Development strategy. Minister of Natural resources Robert Persaud said he was sure that the GFC has been doing a lot in this area.
The WWF representative also underscored the need for supporting countries like Guyana to preserve its forests.
Project Co-ordinator of the GFC Pradeepa Bholenauth gave a brief outline of what has been happening and said the funds allocated will help in the push to meet their goals.
The WWF has been providing financial resources in a number of conservation related areas to Guyana over the years.
