(CARICOM) Meeting relating to the sector opens on Friday.
Guyana’s Agriculture Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammy says the meeting will look at non-tariff barriers conditions in the Caribbean and abroad and effects on various Caricom countries. He plans to push the issue at the 45th Special Meeting of COTED.
According to Minister Ramsammy as Guyana host Caribbean Agriculture week until October 12, recommendations from technical sessions with the regional experts in the sector will be forwarded to the Agriculture Ministers at the COTED meeting for endorsement.
Several local exporters have identified the issue of non-tariff barriers as an area of concern to trade negotiations which are usually long and exhausting.
