The Guyana Public Service Union wants to see its members’ rights respected by Gov’t.
President of the Guyana Public Service Union Patrick Yarde stated that the union is committed to struggle for the workers’ rights. Yarde was at the time speaking at the opening of the 20th Biennial Delegates Conference which opened on Wednesday at the National Cultural Center . He said it its time that the rights of the working class is respected.
The Union President was very out spoken about the treatment by the Government and members of Parliament on the recent 2013 budget. He said the Union made several recommendations to be included in the budget which were neglected.
Acting President Samuel Hinds was of the view that his administration is taking care of the rights of workers. He said the Government has listened to the concerns of the union especially for better living wages for the workers.
Some of the issues the congress would be addressing is the non- establishment of the Public Service Tribunal Commission.
