Kitty Market Stallholders are demanding that the Market be repaired.
The stallholders are also opposed to any form of privatization of the market. They believe that both Central government and the city council have a moral obligation to rehabilitate the market.
Many of the Stallholders depend on the Market for their livelihood and expressed their frustration of the circumstances there are forced to ply their trade.
The Stallholders are of the firm view that present state of the Market is due to the willful neglect by the Council and Government over the last 15 years.
The Stallholders have since formed themselves into a community and wrote several letters to President Donald Ramotar, to the minister of local government Ganga Persaud and city mayor Hamilton Green.
