Report blames Pilot error for Caribbean Airlines crash
The long awaited crash report of BW 523 is out. Well at least the Cabinet of Government of Guyana has seen it. According to Cabinet Spokesperson Gail Texieira the report supports the Airport’s contention that it was pilot error that led to the crash. Texieira claims that the Civil Aviation Authority of Guyana found that the pilot brought the plane down on the runway beyond the touch down zone resulting in the plane overshooting the runway.
The report is to be made public shortly.
The Caribbean Airlines plane crashed two years ago as the flight was coming in to land after midnight. Everyone survived the crash but some were seriously injured including one passenger who lost a leg. Several passengers have taken legal action against the airline in both the Guyana and New York jurisdictions claiming damages. Others are still undergoing therapy.
