Young man lashes out at some members of the Police Force over what he views as unprofessional conduct

26-year-old Kevin Charles A young excavator operator is furious with some members of the Guyana Police Force. The man claims that the Police beat him, locked him up, and took away his money.

26-year-old Kevin Charles told this Newscast that the Police Patrol saw him standing next to a vehicle he was traveling in at the corner of Camp and Middle Streets. He said at the time his vehicle ran out of gas. Charles said while he was on his cell phone the Police officers approached him.

He said he was taken to the Brickdam Police station, but he never exited the vehicle and was later transported to the Diamond Police station.

Charles was placed on $10,000 bail for allegedly assaulting a Police officer.

His brother Shurman Layn a taxi driver and former Policeman said he is surprised at the unprofessional conduct of the Ranks.

He said he has taken his brother’s story to the Office of Professional Responsibility of the Guyana Police Force and they promised to investigate the matter.
