Senior Education Officer wants loans to be made available to improve literacy
With Guyana’s high illiteracy rate and loans are being given out for various sporting activities, at least one senior education official Marcel Hudson is supportive of loans to be made available to improve literacy and for the purchase of books.
Hudson made the remarks during his address to awardees at the Police Bursary Awards ceremony at Eve Leary.
Hudson stressed the importance of education and urged the awardees to work to achieve what they want and be committed to the task.
The feature address at the award ceremony was given by Police Commissioner Leroy Brumell who noted the importance the force places on education.
114 Students of serving members of the Guyana Police Force that excelled at this year’s grade six-assessment examination were presented with monetary incentives and other tokens.
