Annual General Meeting of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union continues
Secretary General of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union Patrick Cozier said local broadcasters who will need both technical and financial assistance to enable then to move from analog to digital transmission can do so via a private-public partnership.
Speaking to Capitol News during day 2 of the CBU’s Annual General Meeting Cozier said that it is important that Guyanese broadcasters are au-fait with the necessary measures that are needed for the transition.
The Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) has committed to guiding regional broadcasting entities, including electronic media houses in Guyana, as they prepare to switch over from analog transmission to digital.
Another aspect of financing that has been touted is that of an individual licensing fee, but the CBU boss said this is not a good idea for Guyana.
On Tuesday the delegates participated in a plenary on Disaster management and the media facilitated by the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.
