Jamaican singer ‘Mavado’ blames ‘Slingerz’ promoters for ‘Summer Jam’ no-show
It was disappointing to dancehall music lovers following the no show of the Jamaican dance hall star David ‘Mavado’ Brooks for the Slingerz show this weekend. But the singer is saying that he is not to be blamed, since he was in Guyana ready and rearing to go. He is laying the blame at the feet of the promoters, saying that they did not fulfil their end of the deal. There are reports that the singer was owed just around $25,000 US.
He said things began to fall apart when a Cessna Aircraft was sent from Guyana for him and band members.
Mavado was expected to headline the Slingerz summer show along side Jamaican artiste Tommy Lee. Lee appeared as scheduled and was the lone act on stage.
Mavado made it clear that he has no problem sharing the stage with any artist. He however said he would not take any legal action against the promoters.
And come tonight the Jamaican dance hall star is expected to be on stage as he tries to please and give back to disappointed fans.
Mavado said his love for Guyana is one of the reasons he came in the first place; he said this was the first time that he had any fallout with the Slingerz promoters, having worked with them before.
