Protest action for the removal of the Acting Town Clerk at City Hall continues
Vendors and other concerned citizens today descended on the Georgetown municipality calling for the removal of the Acting Town Clerk Carol Sooba. They believe that Sooba was imposed on the council, she is disrespectful, rude and unfit to carry out the instructions of the council. Councilors Ranwell Jordan and Gregory Fraser said the action is long overdue. Both pointed to two no-confidence motions passed by the council against the Town Clerk that the Local Government Ministry has failed to act upon.
The Councilors are of the view that Sooba is not working in the best interest of the council. Both Ministers of Local Government Ganga Persaud and Norman Whittaker has thrown their weight behind the Acting Town Clerk, much to the dissatisfaction of the council and some vendors who are fearful that Sooba is eager to remove them off the streets.
The Councilors and the vendors plan to make Sooba very uncomfortable until she demits office. They are prepared they say to go for the long hall.
