Prisoner found hanging in Camp Street Jail cell
Trotz said Blount was charged for the Murder of Ernest Persaud at Old England in Linden last year and attended Court last week in Linden and then he returned to the Georgetown lock-ups on Wednesday.
Capitol News understands that Blount was charged for slitting Persaud’s throat after accusing him of having an affair with his wife.
Capitol News also understands that on his return to prison, a search was conducted on his person and five (05) parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana was found in the hollow section of three cakes of “blue soap” which he had in his possession.
The prison authorities said too that the find was reported to the Police.
Trotz said that Blount was last seen alive close to 10 pm on Sunday night by Prison Officers who visited that section of the Jail as a normal activity.
Meanwhile, the Georgetown Prison Authorities have called in the immediate relatives of the deceased to brief them on the matter.
