Social Activist Gaskin challenges framers of the Amaila Falls deal
Social Activist Ramon Gaskin is challenging the framers of the Amaila Falls deal to contradict his statements that electricity Tariffs will go up if Amaila comes on stream. Gaskin made those statements on Wednesday at a press conference at the Georgetown Club.
Gaskin said too that if Amaila comes on stream consumers will have no recourse since the GPL sets its own rates and the PUC has no role in the setting of rates.
Gaskin said that GPL will be buying their power from Amaila and there will be immediate losses as soon as that power is delivered into its present inefficient system. GPL says its line losses are at almost 15%, but Gaskin has put this at over 30%.
