Guyana Amazon Warriors look forward to challenge in upcoming CPL T/20
Cricket: Two of the 8 overseas players in the Guyana Franchise for the Limacol Caribbean Premier League 20/20 tournament are looking forward to the challenge. Jamaican batsman Krishmar Santokie has played for the West Indies as well as for Jamaica and he has the reputation of being a very economical bowler and he said he will be hoping to do well.
Santokie has taken 66 wickets at an average of 11 and a half in his 35 20/20 played so far. Meanwhile opener William Perkins says he too is happy to be part of a promising team which he believes can win the tournament.
Perkins says his focus will be to do what is asked by the team Management.
The two players are among 8 overseas players in the Amazon Warriors squad which is Captained by Ramnaresh Sarwan and includes Christopher Barnwell. Barnwell has been training with the squad at the Providence Stadium but will be on duty this weekend for the West Indies team which takes on Pakistan in 2 20/20s in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Football: The 2013 Digicel Under 18 2013 Schools football finals was decided and once again it will be familiar foes Waramadong and Wismar/Christianburg in a repeat of last year’s finals. Crowd favourite Waramadong of Region 7 had to dig deep to pull out a victory over Covent Garden.The game was level at 2 all at regulation, but it was the Waramadong’s Goalie who held his nerve to save all of Covent Garden’s penalty shots while his team scored their 3 attempts to march into the finals. Wismar Christianburg thrashed St. Georges 6-1 to reach the finals yet again. The finals will be held this Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground,Carifesta Avenue.
