Guyana Police Force pay tribute to Policemen killed in the line of duty

shot0003On Sunday the Guyana Police Force paid tribute to those Policemen who were killed in the line of duty with a wreath laying ceremony at Eve Leary.

It was during this ceremony Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee noted that criminal elements constitute a very small percentage of our population that create havoc and terror in our country and they must be brought to justice.

Some 60 Policemen were killed in the line of duty between the period 1913-2013, over 40 of that number came from below the Rank of Sergeant, to this end the Minister used the ceremony to make a pitch for greater attention to be paid to Ranks at the lover level.

Also giving a tribute was Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell and he paid homage to those who died trying to restore law and order. He also mentioned those who were injured during that period. He reminded all of the 2002-2008 crime spree that threw this country into fear.

The wreath laying ceremony was part of the Force’s 174th anniversary celebration.
