Miss World Guyana 2013 joins forces with an NGO to address the issue of domestic violence.

shot0010The Miss World Guyana Organization and the US-based Caribbean American Domestic Violence Awareness (CADVA) project have joined forces in an effort to eradicate the scourge of  domestic violence.

Speaking to Capitol News at a ceremony to crown Ms. World Guyana 2013 Ruqayyah Boyer, CADVA Guyana Representative Tiffany Jackson, who is also a survivor of domestic violence herself, said a decision was made to partner with the Miss World Guyana delegate since domestic violence was also her  platform when she participated in last year’s Miss Universe Pageant.

Miss World 2013 will be held in Indonesia in September, and according to Boyer she’s ready to represent Guyana once again on the international stage.

Boyer who is also an International Relations student at the University of Guyana represented Guyana at the Miss Universe last year, however, she did not make it in to the top 20, despite being a favorite of many pageant commentators.
