Ryan Hoppie wins GT&T Jingle and Song Competition – 5th Jul 2013
The former St. Joseph High School student, Ryan Hoppie was declared the winner of the English segment and was presented with a car, a cheque for one million dollars and a cell phone on Friday.
Coming in second was Michael Small from Berbice and third was no stranger to the spot light Lindener, Diana Chapman who is a calypso singer and had entered other competitions.
Hoppie said the journey through the competition was a life changing one and it would not have been possible without the support he received. His mother did not hold back her joy after hearing the announcement that Hoppie won the competition.
Hoppie’s performance from the start of the competition always won the support of the judges and the voting public.
The winner of the Bollywood segment was Bibi Halima Khan while coming in at second was Andy Rambarack and third was Reshma Persaud.
It was Khan’s second time in the competition and she believes that that is what gave her the edge to walk away with the winning prize.
Each participant who made it into the finals of the competition received 50 thousand dollars and a blackberry phone from the telephone company. This year’s competition saw over 14 hundred entries.
