Four thousand pounds of compressed marijuana discovered at John Fernandes Wharf – 5th Jul 2013

Screen shot 2013-07-05 at 7.16.49 PMJust around one this afternoon CANU officials removed compressed marijuana from the container terminal of the John Fernandes wharf on Mandela Avenue.

The importer and the broker are said to be in custody assisting with the investigations.

They are reports that the weed was shipped in a container of vehicles which originated from Japan via China and Jamaica. A source told this Newscast that the Guyana Revenue Authority made the discovery this morning after they found the seal of the container appeared to be tampered with. They are of the view that this may have occurred while the vessel was docked in Jamaica.

According to reports the marijuana totaling over 4000 pounds, was discovered in the cars in the container.
