Guyana Football Federation organises Beach Volleyball workshop – 25th Jun 2013
The workshop has been organized by the Guyana Volleyball Federation in collaboration with the World Governing Body for the sport, the FIVB. The one week grassroots course is open to any interested person. According to Agnes Swami she joined the course for love of the game.
For physical fitness trainer, Tyson English of the Ministry of Education, he hopes to spread the knowledge countrywide in order to make the sport more popular.
Beach volleyball in Guyana is not so popular, but according to the federation, at the end of the course they hope to spread the sport in schools and in communities keeping the direction of the FIVB. The one week course is being conducted by Maurno Hernandez of Venezuela.
Turning to football: Coach of the Waramadong football team is upbeat about his team winning the Digicel Schools Nationwide Football Tournament.
Waramadong, according to the coach, has put in a lot of hard work in the run up to the tournament.
Over the weekend they defeated Bartica 5-2 and thrashed 3-mile, 6-nil.
And it was a goal fest as Hope Secondary dismantled Shavita Business College 11-nil for the biggest win of the tournament so far for this year.
In other results Tagore Secondary got past JC Chandisingh Secondary 5-3 and the Institute of Professional Education held on for a 5-4 win over Soesdyke.
