19-year-old seeks answers after he was allegedly shot wrongfully by Police – 21st Jun 2013

shot0006The family of 19-year-old Abdool Cort wants answers from the Commissioner of Police Leroy Brummel, regarding the shooting incident involving a Cadet Officer, who is attached to the Brickdam Police Station.

According to the young man, the incident occurred on March 9, when he was heading home with his cousin who is also Police Constable.

He said that he was a pillion rider on the motor cycle, when he heard a single gunshot.

The young woman is identified as Michelle Simon, who was at the time sitting on her bridge. She recalled the incident.

Cort said that he does not have any history with the Guyana Police Force. He said he would normally go into the interior and work as a gold miner. He also explained that since the incident it has been difficult to sustain himself financially.

    Very poor reporting. I thought the individual involved in this incident was the one making a statement .Who is the young woman ‘Michelle Simon ‘ How does that statement fit into this story Is there an editor working with Capitol News (My question mark key refused to work.)
