Fishermen vow to close operations if the Government does not grant them concessionary fuel – 11th Jun 2013

shot0004Fishermen at the Meadow Bank Wharf are calling for a level playing field with regard to the price they have to pay for fuel and they are doing so in the form of protest.

The fishermen told members of the media that unlike the Trawler Association which is getting concessionary fuel at $600 per gallon they have to face the pump and pay the regular price of $1100 per gallon.

The fishermen believe that no one in authority is seriously looking into their concerns and whenever they speak out, they are being given broken promises. They are also concerned about their safety on the high seas and the deplorable state of the wharf.

The fishermen are putting the authorities on notice that if they fail to address their concerns in a timely matter they would cease operations.
