State of the sugar industry is a cause for concern, Says AFC’s executive member Moses Nagamootoo – 10th Jun 2013

shot0004Alliance For Change Parliamentarian, Moses Nagamootoo is of the opinion the current state of the sugar industry is a cause for concern.

He said the Government continues to invest millions into the sector which is yet to realize its true potential because of the mismanagement by GUYSCO’s board.

The Finance Minister continues to attribute the failure of the sugar industry to changing weather pattern and industrial relation actions.

The AFC has called for the Government to launch a Commission of Inquiry into the operations of GUYSUCO and the immediate appointment of a new Board.

Other political leaders also share the view that the poor leadership and management of the industry maybe the main reason contributing to the current plight of the sugar industry.

Ever since the European Union’s 36% cut, the sugar industry has found it more difficult to maintain both local and international markets due to low sugar production.

To compound the criminality of the PPP, I understand the Chairman/CEO of this corporation is being paid G$2.5 m per month. Just what this Joker is being paid this astronomical salary for, escapes me.These clowns have ingenious ways of sucking the lifeblood out of our country. They closed down the Bauxite industry, obviously being the racists that they are,. as it employed predominantly Blacks, and continue to pump money into another Industry where their Kith and Kin are predominant. If they were to remain in Power for another Ten (10) yrs, would there be anything left for our children. What mess!!!
