7 injured in vehicle smash-up – 20th May 2013
While the Guyana Fire Service was praised for some good work after rescuing Conversation Tree accident victim, Rajiv Boomohan, many are calling for better emergency response capabilities to be put in place, catering for such a mishap.
The man was pinned in the car for over an hour, without any medical personnel to administer medical attention or First-Aid while he was being helped from the wreckage.
The work of the firemen was not made any easier as curious onlookers converged to provide helping hands.
Seven persons were injured in the two cars which collided. Most of those injured suffered broken limbs and lacerations about their bodies and were rushed to the GPHC.
Mark Hynes was one of those who assisted the victims and he told members of the media what he saw.
Eyewitnesses are reporting that speeding was the cause of the accident. The driver of a white Toyota 192 involved in the accident told members of the media that he had just turned South into Bel-Air when the red car coming at a high speed slammed into him.
