Creative group looks to capture past in the form of a local exhibition and day of activities – 17th May 2013
According to organizer Barrington Braithwaite the idea was birthed out of a conversation with his children, who had asked him to describe how the old Georgetown looked and felt like.
Braithwaite said the event is slated for Sunday 19th May at the Parade Ground.
Braithwaite believes that there is a need to explain to the young people, what Guyana was like under colonial rule.
Despite not having any major sponsors for this year’s Creole Day, Braithwaite explained that Creole Day 2013 will not be a one time event. He said the organizers are hoping to continue the event annually.
Several agencies including The African Cultural Development Association, ACDA and 1823 Monument Restoration committee are on board for the event.
