University of Guyana administration orders audit of finances given to Student Body – 2nd May 2013
The University of Guyana administration says it has ordered an audit of the finances it has given the Student Body and that audit will be completed soon. The Vice Chancellor of the University was commenting on the ongoing controversial borrowing of funds by th UGSS President Ganesh Mahipaul. Mahipaul has reportedly borrowed some 800,000 dollars from the UGSS coffers, without the full approval of the required quorum of the 21-member executive.
The UG Vice Chancellor noted that the University will not be releasing any more funds to the UGSS until this matter is resolved.
There has been an outcry by students at the University campus after the discovery of the action by the UGSS President.
