Caribbean Export Development Agency trains business owners – 23rd Apr 2013
Over 100 business owners and managers benefited from a one-day grant application training workshop that was organised by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Carib Export) and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
The workshop was geared at apprising participants on how to access the Direct Assistance Grant Scheme, that is being administered by Carib Export as part of the 10th European Development Fund.
According to Senior Grant Advisor, Kirk Brown, the Carib Export delegation is in Guyana to increase the number of successful applications from Guyana.
There are two grant facilities; an accelerated grant facility to the tune of 1.3 million Guyana dollars and one for over 8 million dollars, for the regular grant facility. Brown noted that many businesses do not have an efficient accounting unit or a research development department which hampers their success at accessing the funding required; however, he said what is being imparted to participants will assist them not only for applying for the Carib Export Grant Facility, but also other funding facilities available.
