James Bond barred from leaving Guyana’s shores – 22nd Apr 2013
With a name like James Bond, you would think you could get anywhere, particularly if you sport the 007 logo and all. But not so for the Parliamentarian. This weekend he turned up at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport only to be told that he was not on the list of persons who are allowed to leave the country. It turns out that Bond received a Government scholarship several years ago and was required to serve time before being allowed to travel freely again.
According to the Parliamentarian, he served his time in the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions, but the procedures to clear his name at the airport was not followed, and so when he turned up at the airport, he was barred from traveling. Bond said it would have been his first trip out of the company in about 7 years. He was going on a weekend business trip, but all that money he said, went down the drain. Bond is hopeful that the next he is ready to travel, the matter would be sorted out.
