President Ramotar makes it clear that he will not rescind granted radio licences – 16th Apr 2013

protest licencesPresident Donald Ramotar is making it clear that he will not rescind the radio licenses given by former President, Bharrat Jadgeo.

The matter was discussed with the Government and opposition parties at a meeting at the Office of the President yesterday. Alliance For Change leader, Khemraj Ramjattan, who was part of meeting said, the President and team said they will not budge on the issue.

Today, the Private Media Practitioners were back on the picket line in front of State House, where Publisher of the Kaieteur News, Glen Lall said, he would continue the fight until the playing field is level.

Alliance For Change leader, Khemraj Ramjattan was in solidarity with the protestors and he believes the method used by the former President to issue the licences was deceptive.

Ramjattan also feels the consideration was very improper and the licenses were granted to favorites of the ruling parties and not those who opposed the Government.
