East Bank Berbice residents protest outside Parliament over deplorable road – 16th Apr 2-13
At the centre of the protest is the state of the current road which they described as impassable and in a state of terrible deterioration.
President Donald Ramator had earlier said the residentss demands cannot be met now and that they have to wait until next year.
The residents said that they were told in September last year by Regional Chairman, David Armogan, that a new road would have been “likely” this year.
According to the residents, the East Bank Berbice corridor, over the years, has developed to be Berbice’s main trading area.
But the current state is affecting the livelihoods. especially the children and elderly.
Some of the residents said if their demands are not met, they will move to prevent the passage of the motorcade, associated with the Indian Arrival Day, to further register their disgust.
