Guyana bids farewell to Former Minister of Agriculture Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud – 11th Apr 2013
The People’s Progressive Party on Thursday morning, remembered one of its stalwarts; Former Minister of Agriculture Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud, at the Party’s Headquarters. Persaud succumbed on Sunday April 8, at the Caribbean Heart Institute of the GPHC where he was a patient. The brightly decorated coffin bearing his remains was on view outside the party’s head office, as party officials and other well wishers expressed condolences to the Family.
Persaud was a longstanding member of the PPP’s central executive committee and was also the Founder of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha. He is one of the country’s longest serving Parliamentarians and even served as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the PPP/C Government. His contributions were recalled by Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee.
The body of Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud was taken to the International Conference Centre for an official funeral service before proceeding to the Good Hope Crematorium for cremation.
