WICB President Wyclife ‘Dave’ Cameron calls on stakeholders to commit together – 9th Apr 2013

footballNewly elected President of the WICB; Wyclife ‘Dave’ Cameron is calling for good sense to prevail in the Guyana situation and asked that all the stakeholders must commit together to lift the game here.

Cameron met the Press on Sunday evening and thanked both the GCB and the Government of Guyana for their efforts and contributions in ensuring that cricket is played here. He urged that the stakeholders look to the future.

Cameron cautioned that Democracy must prevail as well as rulings from the court system. He however frowned upon the resort to the courts, saying that these disputes must not always reach the courts.

Cameron was at pains to stress the role the WICB sees the Guyana Government playing in cricket.

Cameron defeated Dr. Julian Hunte to win the Presidency recently and has indicated that he wants to ensure that he meets with all the Heads of State for the cricket-playing nations in the Caribbean, to get their support for the Region’s #1 sport.

A 10-minute strike by Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson ensured that his new club Alpha United walked away a million dollars richer in the Finals of the Mayor’s Cup football tournament. Before a sizeable crowd at the GFC ground, the top city team turned back the challenge of giant killers Slingerz FC to win the top prize in the Annual tournament.
