Millennium Manor Hotel opens – 5th Apr 2013
Minister of Tourism Irfaan Ali pledged Government’s assistance in marketing the hotel as part of the Rediscover Home Package Tours that targets the large Guyanese Diaspora.
Ali said with the expansion of Guyana’s tourism sector, more boutique hotels are needed in the country.
However, he said Guyana needs to be ready for a steady flow of tourists.
Located on Hadfield Street, just east of Camp Street, The Millennium Manor Hotel is owned by a US-based Guyanese couple, Lancelot and Yonette Bacchus.
After living overseas, the couple decided to return home as they see a bright future for Guyana and wanted to invest. The interior of the hotel is specially designed by Mrs. Bacchus.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Robeson Benn said the opening of the hotel was timely, especially with the advent of regional flights at the Ogle International Airport, since an increase in arrivals is expected from neighbouring countries.
