Former Government Minister Dale Bisnauth dies – 4th Apr 2013
Dr. Bisnauth was admitted to the centre. Dr. Bisnauth served as Education Minister from 1992- 1997 and also held the Labour portfolio.
At the time of his death he was Chairman of the Board of Industrial Training. Dr. Bisnauth was hailed by Education Minister Priya Manikchand, who said many of the successful programmes of the Education Sector can be credited to him. These included the Primary Education Project, The design and implementation of the Secondary school Reform Project and the BEAMS project. She described the former Minister as a good son who lived all his life in service and whose love for humanity was tangible.
As a Presbyterian Pastor, Dr. Bisnauth served as secretary of the Caribbean Council of Churches.
Dr. Bisnauth also served in Academia both at the Universities of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica from where he received his PHd in History and the University of Guyana. He is also the author of at least 3 books; The Settlement of Indians In Guyana: 1890-1930, A Short History of the Guyana Presbyterian Church (1979) and History of Religions in the Caribbean (1989).
Opposition and Government parliamentarians have both expressed condolences to the family and relatives of Dr. Dale Arlington Bisnauth, dead at 76.
