Irish teen charged for threatening to assassinate President Donald Ramotar – 2nd Apr 2013

irishPolice said, that at on Friday last, while at Tabachinga North Rupununi, Cilian James Crossan used threatening language against the President.

The teenager, who is attached to the British Charity Project Trust as a volunteer teacher, pleaded not guilty as he stood before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetwon Magistrate’s Court.

The Prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that it was a threat against the President by a foreign national, but the Magistrate did not deny bail.

The President was not in Lethem at the time, but the remarks were heard by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Nigel Dharamlall.

The young man was having drinks at a bar in Lethem. He was released on $60, 000 bail and the case will continue on May 30.
