Cheddi Jagan International Airport acquires Pro-Vision Body Scanner – 25th Mar 2013
The uncomfortable pat down searches at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport could be a thing of the past now that a new Pro-Vision Scanner has been installed. It may also help to catch couriers who are using the airport as a transshipment point for drug trafficking.
Chief Executive Officer of the CJIA, Ramesh Ghir said, the new machine will enhance the processing of passengers and enhance security.
Ghir said if someone were to have swallowed something, the machine will not detect it, however, the machine is capable of detecting anything under the surface of the body.
Ghir said Guyana has an estimated 4000 international flights yearly, with an average of over 600,000 international passengers moving through the airport facilities.
