The Guyana Bank of Trade and Industry Limited (GBTI) has extended its service to the hinterland community of Port Kaituma, Region one. On Saturday last, the 11th location was open, where customers in Region one can now access the same services being offered around the country.
GBTI’s Board of Directors Chairman, Robin Stoby, said the expansion of services by the bank will continue to bring persons living in remote areas into the financial main stream.
The Chairman said the core element of services being offered at the new branch will include low transaction cost, convenient operating time, minimum paper work and quick and easy access to credit and other products.
Central Bank’s Deputy Governor Dr. Gobind Ganga said the new location can be seen as a way to provide some level of equitable distribution of income while contributing to the deepening of the financial system.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds was given the honour of cutting the ribbon to the temporary location of the new GBTI branch in Port Kaituma. The GBTI branch will have three tellers along with a 24-hour ATM service for card holders. According to the GBTI official, the permanent new office seen here should be completed by year end.
