Auto-dealer remanded to prison after 150 pounds of marijuana was found in car trunks – 12th Mar 2013
A Norton Street Auto dealer, Kurt Brown, known as ‘Cocoa Tea’ and the mother of three of his 8 children, Roshel Gordon, were remanded to prison today when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer charges of possession of marijuana.
The two were arrested early Saturday morning during a Police raid in Norton Street, where some 158 pounds of marijuana was found.
The discovery of the marijuana was reportedly found in the trunks of three cars located at the auto dealer’s business place at 45 Norton Street.
Brown, who is the number one accused in the case, was represented by Attorney-At-Law, Peter Hugh, who in his bail application told the Magistrate, that his client was innocent of the charges. He said the cars were not registered as yet and several persons had access to the vehicle. He said the father of 8 had no knowledge that the narcotic was in the cars. Roshel Gordon who was jointly charged, was represented by Lacthmie Ramhaman and in her quest for bail, she told the court that her client was five months pregnant was and is in no way connected to Brown, since they live in separate apartments. She said her client was at home asleep when the Police swooped down on her home. Bail applications by both Attorneys were refused and the matter was transferred to Court Five, before Magistrate, Leron Daly.
Brown and Gordon were remanded to prison until May 2nd.
